Ron's Voice Foundation was inspired by our founder's grandfather, Ron Steele, who lived with ALS before adaptive technology as we know it existed, and spent close to a decade unable to communicate verbally with those he loved most.
Watching someone lose the ability to communicate changes the way you understand connection, dignity, and human interaction.
We believe nobody should feel trapped in silence simply because they lack access to the right technology.
We envision a world where no person is isolated by the inability to communicate verbally.
Through assistive technology, compassionate support, and community partnerships, we aim to restore voices and strengthen human connection.
Every donation directly helps provide communication tools to people who need them most.
Built by people who believe communication is a human right.
Ron's story serves as the foundation for our mission.
Created Ron's Voice Foundation to help individuals and families access communication technology and support.
My grandfather passed away long before I was even thought of, so I never had the privilege of meeting him. What I have are the stories: what an incredible man he was, how much I look like him, and how deeply he loved his family.
When I think of my grandfather, I do not think of him as a patient. I think of the man my family remembers — loving, present, and full of personality.
Growing up, I heard about the challenges he faced using early communication devices and how difficult it became for him to communicate with the people he loved most. That has always stayed with me.
I often think about how modern technology could have changed his quality of life. It bothers me that the tools he needed were either limited, unavailable, or out of reach.
To me, communication is not just words. It is how we connect, laugh, joke, make decisions, express love, and remain ourselves.
If Ron's Voice can help one patient make their own decisions, one wife hear her husband's thoughts again, or one father tell his children he loves them, then this work will be worth it.
I never got to meet my grandfather, but Ron's Voice allows me to honor him while helping others in his name.
Losing your voice does not mean losing your personality, identity, independence, or dignity. Losing your voice does not mean you cannot be heard.
We're actively building relationships with healthcare professionals, advocates, and supporters who share our vision.
Your support will eventually help provide communication technology, training, and hope for individuals facing speech loss.
